Men's 3rds beat Railway Union by 4-2
By Dara Crowe
Another hat-trick for Banton
continued his blistering start to the season with another hat-trick against Railway Union in a hard fought game where the reds came back twice from behind to claim full points in the end. The goals in the game were all well worked, Railway scored first mid way through the first half, but almost immediately Matt Ralph scored from a rebound after Dave McFeely had his initial shot blocked from the reds only short corner and Mattie tucked it away (with surprisingly little celebration, we know he can do better in the celebration department). Railway re-took the lead 5 minutes later but Geezer then scored a variety of goals, a back post tap in initially from a pass after a quick free - a tennis style smash after an overhead on to the penalty spot - and a goal worked the length of the field from an initial interception by Ben Ralph
in his own circle, then a controlled pass to Dara Crowe
who found Conor Miles
free on the wing, who worked it to Guy who coolly slotted it away. When interviewed after the game Geezer did not give too much away as to whether it was red or white that did the trick but claimed an 'all-nighter' made all the difference. Neil will probably advise the rest of the team to take note, except Macker - who has tried all combinations before - with varied success.
