The u17s had another emphatically successful season in 2009-2010 by winning the u17s cup for the second consecutive season. It seems that nothing can stop them in their tracks!

Coached by Sarah Walker and with the help of Dingka Fair the u17s Ladies Squad saw off some tough competition at the beginning of the season against Loreto and Pembroke, finally reaching the final.

The final took place on a beautiful sunny Sunday 14th March in CHC’s Whitechurch grounds against a strong Clontarf side. It was an interesting affair with the Reds taking the lead within the first minute through a perfect 3 on 2 play down the right hand side of the pitch and they didn’t look back after that. CHC took a 2 nil lead not long after and dominated for most of the match. There were some segments of fantastic end to end play where Clontarf snatched a goal back before CHC added another 2 goals to their tally. All in all a very exciting match with some exceptional hockey played by both sides, ended in the Reds victory of 4-2.

The players on the squad for the final were as follows: Rebecca Murtagh (CHC Goalkeeper of the Year), Debbie Fair, Amy Stewart (Captain and CHC Young Player of the Year), Melissa Roe-O’Leary, Ruth Harrison, Afric Tracy, Jennifer Long, Sarah Dalton, Aisling Naughton, Nicola Lynch, Rebecca Dalby, Kate Sexton, Louise Walsh, Shannon Clarke, and Evie McCullagh.

Outstanding performances all round and a great team spirit helped to seal the victory for the girls who deserved everything they achieved and are a very promising set of new talent for the future of Corinthian Hockey Club. Well done girls!!
