Room to improve - definitely (its that time of the week, wine and a match report while Dermot goes over budget)
Where to start is always the problem... the result is easy .. a fair 1-1 draw ... chances on both sides and one score each...but we had the better chances.
Zorro ... the captain took the expected card (more anon).. by being swashbuckling and brandishing his stick in every direction and eventually being pinged for hitting the opposition once too often.
We avoided the heavy rain ... just. And the rugby followed -and a good result there, as long as you weren't English.
It started well .. a goal in the first half ... (Gordy still annoyed that his assist last week went unrecognized)... Frank provided the disguised pass that led to the 'young'fella scoring again.. the youth policy is paying off .. Jacob got in to great scoring positions multiple times ..you feel its only a matter of time before a hat trick is on the cards. Simon's crosses are a dream for any center forward ... Geezer.. ah well.
The officiating was as expected ..raised eye brows all around .. the defense perplexed by most decisions in the 2nd half. Jake particularly wondering how better to tackle. So clean it was Covid approved, yet still a short corner?_. After Mr T. and FF had stifled the obvious questions on the parentage of the the man in the Mac (students of Joyce can look up the funeral scene in Ulysses for other references) the Maestro himself stepped up and took one for the team by using his wand (stick) in a rather cavalier fashion and slashing several opponents like Zorro before he got carded for leaving his mark (Z for Zorro)... actually a mark on the back of the YM calves. (but since the officiator was using his guide dog for assistance, it was the 3rd bark that was taken as the notice that action was needed ans so the card was issued).
After the 500th SC YM finally scored ... but a that stage we just wanted to go see the rugby - a draw a relatively fair outcome.
Azza's late run .. no comment
