Helter Skelter

Captain Gordy was so much into the youth policy..he started himself on the bench - and came on for someone older. The average age is going down.

And it was the right approach as the schoolboys took charge on the day in an 8 goal-thriller. But it wasn't done the easy way! is it ever?
It started promisingly enough in the first quarter, when we scored after a few minutes - Jacob on hand again to finish off a neat move down the right. Another goal in quick succession made it look like it was going to be easy, Jake getting in on the act with a goal of him own. But the game then swung the other way, first with a soft corner conceded leading to a goal from a drag flick, that was impossible to defend, compounded by another shortly after to level before half time.

Unusually we also had the ability to score drag flicks and first Glen and then Simon scored direct from drag flicks (we are being dragged into the 21st century - finally).

The Glens had come back to 3-3 but a great reverse shot by Jack finished off the game as a contest.

The energy to continue attacking was great to see - Dylan and Ed starting some flowing moves from the back (rumours of the sweeper going AWOL in the last few minutes was as scurrilous as the captain being sent to the naughty step as he just wanted a break - it wasn't the umpire, there were some bold boys out there.)

This lead was held unto the end and a deserved victory was achieved, hopefully the start of many.
