Ladies 1s continue winning ways

The first meeting of new Head coach Ralph Billings Reds with his former team Clontarf was always going to start highly charged.
With a set game plan in place, Corinthians took a few minutes to get into their stride. A smart pass through to Laura Motyer in the 7th minute resulted in a stroke, which Carol McGowan confidently put away. 5 minutes later, a well worked short corner between Lynne Pomeroy and Sophie Maleady gave Corinthians a 2-0 lead. Another clinical short corner before the half netted Amber Kinlan a nice goal. Clontarf had some threatening breakaways towards the end of the half, but it finished 3-0 at half time.

Clontarf came out fighting in the second half with early pressure against the reds defence. A scrappier second half than anticipated, Corinthians forward line eventually broke through from open play and Caoimhe Proud Murphy calmly slotted in from the post. Clontarf came back fighting and were awarded a stroke for a foot on the line, which they put away well. Laura Motyer went close again for Corinthians with a menacing reverse stick strike only to be denied by a strong Clontarf Goalkeeper. Leigh Pelow finished off the scoring with a nice individual goal created from the top of the circle. The final score was 5-1, with the reds now looking to a big clash next with with Old Alex.
