Corinthian L1s vs Old Alex 1s certainly lived up to its hype.

It was a closely contested match at a very high pace. The game started with CHC taking full control and attacking fluidly. A few early chances were created, one which was just missed at the far post by Lauren McGrane after a fantastic move up the pitch. More was to come and Caoimhe Proud-Murphy broke the deadlock with a very classy finish over the keepers pads from close range, this time McGrane providing the assist.

CHC stayed on top following the goal, but Alex would work their way back into the tie through some very high energy and hard work in the press, eventually forcing some short corners -- one of which was narrowly missed from a deflection. The half ended with CHC on the backfoot, defending excellently and never coughing up any real chances.

The second half looked quite similar to the first, both teams having their moments but CHC looking the more comfortable throughout. A 1v1 between Proud-Murphy and the Alex GK resulted in Proud-Murphy been completely taken out at the top of the D, but the umpire waved play on, to the disgust of the CHC supporters and coaches - a stroke surely!
The final 5mins was mostly spent with CHC defending, as you'd expect in a close tie with a 1-0 lead, but they defended as a unit and Alex never really looked like scoring.

The result puts CHC ahead of Alex in the league by a single point and in 2nd place behind Muckross who are three points clear.
It sets up a fascinating match next week against Muckross - a win will bring CHC to equal points with two games to go. Muckross have won all matches in their home ground in 2018, so a big effort from CHC will be needed.
