On a wet & miserable afternoon in Whitechurch Park the Ladies 1sts were 4-0 winners over Naas in Div1.
Q1 started slowly with only a few opportunities, one of which was a penalty corner earned by Niamh Walsh.
Early pressure by Naas in Q2 was well defended but 2 goals in 2mins gave CHC a 2-0 lead at half time. The first came following an intercept & strong play by Sophie Maleady from which Jodie Douglas got a penalty corner. Jessica McGrane converted in 24th min. The second followed a good run down the left by Nicola Torrans who crossed for Milly Lynch to finish.
In Q3, CHC added 2 more goals. Jodie Douglas after 42 mins & a super individual goal by Jessica McGrane with a reverse stick shot 2 mins later. The quarter ended on a controversial note when a goal from another penalty corner for CHC was disallowed.
Q4 saw Naas come more into the game with a number of penalty corners being awarded to them. One was a high shot blocked by Hannah McKay & another forced an excellent save from Holly Micklem. The coming week will be a busy one for the squad with 3 matches in 5 days. The first one is away against Monkstown on Weds evening in Div1.
