Ladies 1’s prevail in close encounter against Monkstown.

Ladies 1sts produced a thrilling finish in their 2-1 Div 1 win over Monkstown in Rathdown on Wednesday evening. 

The first half was a very even, fast paced contest with chances at both ends leaving the score 0-0 at half time. 

Following early pressure at the start of Q3, Monkstown drew first blood with a goal in the 39th min. 10 mins later CHC equalized following a good pass by Jessica McGrane to Jodie Douglas who showed great skill to score with conviction. 

Q4 saw CHC maintaining pressure which forced an early save from the Monkstown keeper. Some excellent play by Cilia Holderman resulted in a penalty corner from which Jodie scored her second goal in the 62nd minute. 

The last 8 mins were a tense affair with Monkstown being awarded a number of PC’s which were either scrambled clear or excellently saved by Holly Micklem. However, CHC prevailed and the traveling supporters heaved a collective sigh of relief at the  final whistle.
