Another vital win for Ladies 1s

A combination of a stout defence and some excellent attacking play resulted in a 4-1 win against Trinity at Whitechurch Park on Saturday afternoon.
CHC started hesitantly allowing Trinity to dominate. However, in the 10th minute Milly Lynch stole the ball and her fine pass to Cilia Holdermann allowed her to score a cracking goal on her reverse. The lead lasted 2 mins with Trinity scoring from a direct penalty corner shot. This left the score 1-1 at end of Q1.

CHC grew in strength in Q2 with a number of early opportunities being spurned. Jodie Douglas started a counter attack with a pass to Nicola Torrans who in turn found Lauren McGrane whose shot trickled over the line in the 29th min. for a 2-1 lead.

Corinthian continued to pile on the pressure in Q3 with some industrious play by Sophie Maleady, Leigh Pelow and Camila Arbulo. This was rewarded when Cilia intercepted a pass and scored a wonderful individual goal to leave the score 3-1 at the end of the quarter.

Q4 will be remembered for a series of 7 penalty corners awarded to Trinity early on. The defenders at the time - Lynne Pomeroy, Leanne Kelly, Emily McKay, Milly Lynch & goalie Holly Micklem stood resolute with no goal being conceded. A penalty corner at the other end for CHC was converted by Jessica McGrane resulting in a 4-1 win.
The win will be all the more memorable as it ends Trinity’s unbeaten 52 game run in Div 1.

Next week sees another double weekend with Div 1 games against Rathgar (A) on Saturday & Avoca (H) on Sunday.
