In a hotly contested game Monkstown had the better opportunities in Q1, forcing saves from goalie Holly Micklem & a penalty corner clearance by Jessica McGrane.
Monkstown took the lead early in Q2 with a fine goal by Rachel Moore. This galvanised CHC into action to finish out the half strongly leaving it 1-0 to Monkstown at half time.
CHC continued to apply pressure in Q3 with a number of penalty corners going unconverted.
Despite other chances for CHC in Q4, it was Monkstown who increased their lead with a scrappy goal in the 63rd min leaving the score 2-0 at full time.
The still leaves CHC 5 points clear at the top of the table with 5 games left to play.
Next up is an away fixture against Genesis on Saturday afternoon at 1.30pm.
