With one game left in the pool (against Lurgan), the Ladies 1’s will finish top of the group after 3-2 win over Trinity on Saturday afternoon in Whitechurch Park.
CHC started brightly creating a number of opportunities. After defending a penalty corner a quick counter attack, involving Jodie Douglas and Milly Lynch led to Lauren McGrane scoring the opening goal after 12 mins.
In Q2, CHC continued to dominate and a free out by Trinity was intercepted by Camila Arbulo who found Nicola Torrans in the D to calmly slot home in the 33rd min to leave CHC 2-0 up at half time.
Trinity came out the stronger team in Q3 with CHC successfully defending a number of penalty corners and Holly Micklem was instrumental in keeping the CHC goal in tact. The score remained 2-0 at end of Q3.
CHC added to their tally in Q4 with an early goal by Sara Quill in the 54th min. Trinity got back into the match with a goal from Ailish Long in the 61st min. After CHC defended a number of penalty corners, Trinity pulled their goalie and Issy Delamer scored a scrappy goal in the last minute. Trinity then put back on their goalie as they tried for the equalizer but CHC finished the stronger with a 3-2 win.
There is no match next week and the next fixture is again against Trinity in Div 1 on Saturday 21st March in Santry Ave.
