The Ladies 1’s kicked off their EYHL2 campaign with a 3-0 away loss to Ards on a glorious sunny afternoon in Newtownards.
The match started at a fast pace with play flowing from end to end.Ards took an early lead after 8 mins and continued to apply pressure with Holly Micklem making a save & Hannah McKay clearing off the line.
CHC had their chances to equalise with a shot saved from Lauren McGrane and a brilliant intercept by Sara Quill also came to nothing.
Q2 was all CHC with numerous penalty corners being saved. Jessica McGrane had the ball in the net only for the umpire to disallow saying he had indicated for a penalty corner.
Ards came out hard in Q3 attacking down both wings & adding 2 goals, the 3rd from a switch penalty corner routine.
There were chances for both sides to score in Q4 but numerous saves by Holly ensured Ards did not add to their goal tally leaving the score 3-0 to Ards at the final whistle.
Next up is the first Div 1 game away against Glenanne on Sat 3 Oct.
