A great start to a new season today against Bray HC in the grounds of Temple Carrig School in Greystones. Cold and windy as usual with a lot of new team members who are still learning each other’s strengths and capabilities. A solid start to the match kept the score line at 0-0 until a few minutes before the end of the first half when Bray slipped one past goalkeeper Jude O Dwyer, but the boys fought back after a half time pep talk from coach Neil Mackay and evened the score early in the second half with a goal from Ethan Black, quickly followed by another from Ryan Wynne, helped by forwards Kim Guiness, Micah Switzer, Jacob Minehane and Jack Younge, to give us the lead 1-2. Some terrific midfield play from newcomers Frederick von Strantz and Gonzalo Plaza Ferreira helped maintain our lead until another Bray goal got through a solid defense of Luke Caldwell, Oscar Comerford, Conor Stephens, Alastair MacWilliam, and Simon Comerford to even the score 2-2. A final terrific goal from Frederik von Strantz gave us a 2-3 lead that we held onto to win the match and progress to the second round of the Cup, well done lads.
Our thanks to Bray HC for a great match!
