A great match today against Weston away in Lucan, Corinthians were 0-2 up early on with 2 terrific goals from Micah Switzer, ably assisted by forwards Ethan Black, Simon Comerford, and Jacob Minehan, and midfielders Jack Younge, Frederick Von Strantz, and Harry St Ledger. However, Weston fought back and leveled the score at 2-2 by half time, their 2 excellent goals getting past the defense of Luke Caldwell, Oscar Comerford, Ryan Wynne, and Alastair MacWilliam, and even the valiant efforts of keeper Jude O Dwyer. The second half saw a 3rd goal from Weston but the Corinthian lads never gave up and a fantastic aerial from Frederick Von Strantz across the goal was intercepted by Ryan Wynne and into the goal it went to level the score with a minute remaining. The full time score of 3-3 needs settling so 1v1s were the order of the day and the 5 volunteers stepped forward, success from Harry St Ledger, Oscar Comerford, and Frederick Von Strantz and several misses from Weston, together with some great goalkeeping from Jude O Dwyer, meant Corinthians win 1-3 on penalties.
So, through to the Cup semifinals they go. Well done lads, and our thanks to Weston for a fantastic game.
