3rd's win the derby
The captained requested at least 1 point, we gave him 3!
A hard fought result. We went in one up at half time, a turnover by Mc Feely and a quick long ball deep into space in the Rovers 25. Matt Ralph picked it up and still with a lot of work to do, stuck in the Rovers net. (20 mins)
Only praise was spoken at half time, the manager could find no fault with the first 35 minutes (which must be a first).
The only fear was that our legs would run out as time took it's toll. An even battle recommenced in the second half with the all important cushion been provided by Davey Duggan with 15 minutes or so remaining.
Duggan took the ball into the Rovers circular, tracking right to left, made himself some space and let one of his deadly reverse stick shots fly. As the ball struck it's target the red shirts yelled with joy as the light blue and brown squares sighed.
This was a great turn around in fortune, giving that the first league fixture between the sides saw Rovers take the spoils with a 4 to 1 goal result.
