In a game that avoided the worst of Saturday's weather, the result was not quite as fortunate. CHC went behind after 15 mins but immediately broke back with a bizarre goal credited to Conor Miles (who had lots of help from Navan to put it in their own goal). The reds went behind 10 mins later from a powerful short corner drag flick but again immediately broke back with a goal from Guy Banton. The two teams may have had the same average age of about 30 years old but the difference was that the reds had 15 & 45+ year olds, whereas Navan was mostly 20 or 30 year olds and the speed told eventually with a breakaway goal for Navan to seal the tie. Scurrilous rumours that Macker and Neil Townsend were dropped for the fixture were scotched by the coach who advised that Macker was getting his bread trimmed to blend in the 4ths and Neil was opening a creche.
