The thirds arrived with only 11 players. Kilkenny in contrast has 16 or so. the thirds got there late... it looked ominous.
In the first half the thirds got motoring, whereas Kilkenny were sleeping - in the first half we had a hatful of chances and were 2-0 up at half time.
Conor Miles (the Don!) had 3 great chances and stuck one of the away, man of the match Guy Banton also had good chances and scored one too.
In the second half it was energy management time! Kilkenny finally got out of the blacks and pressed Chc very high - meaning it was all one way traffic to the thirds goalmouth. Unluckily for Kilkenny, the 3rds keeper Andrew Pollack had a very good game including one absolutely outstanding save when going the wrong way with his foot.
Kilkenny got back a goal with a well worked close range finish.
A wonderfully worked short corner right off the training field had the thirds 3-1 up (JC - Guy Banton). Kilkenny got a second following a poor pass out of defence.
Great effort by CHC, a deserving result: great commitment shown and it was a really enjoyable match.
MOM: Guy Banton
Honourable mentions:
Andrew Pollack, Conor Miles!
