Another terrific win today for the U14 boys, coached today by Tony Long, although an early goal by Suttonians gave us a bit of a scare but an equaliser by Conor Walsh shortly afterwards brought the lads back into the game. By halftime the score stood at 1-1 but words of wisdom from Tony did the trick and the second half brought a flurry of goals from Ethan Black, Ross Williams, and 2 more from Conor Walsh, all ably assisted by Luke Caldwell and Andrew Brown in midfield, and Ryan Wynne and Dylan Dickson Santos up front. Some excellent goalkeeping by Jude O Dwyer, and a solid defence by Tom Bourke, Simon Comerford, Jack Younge, and Oscar Comerford which slipped for a moment towards the end of the match but a last minute goal by Suttonians wasn't enough to prevent a resounding victory for Corinthians.
Thanks to Tony Long and his vast experience, built up over many many many years for coaching today as Moose was otherwise engaged with the U16s, and to Dave Harkin for umpiring (although the second half seemed very long!).
Out thanks too to Suttonians for a great match.
Todays win leaves us second in the "North" group of the U14B league with 8 points to Railways 11 but ahead of YMCA, Suttonians, and Weston. There are to be playoffs between the North and South groups but no details yet, further info as soon as I have it.
BTW, the league doesn't just cover Dublin which is why we're in the North group, there is life outside Dublin!
