A thrilling match away in Enniscorthy today between 2 very evenly matched teams of U14 Boys. Corinthians went into the match lying second in the North grouping of the U14B league, while Enniscorthy lead the South grouping. Half-time saw the score stand at 0-0 with some strong defending from both sides, a chat with coaches Ross MacWilliam and and Neil Mackay and the boys came out fired up. A few minutes later saw Corinthians take the lead with a terrific goal from Ryan Wynne, Enniscorthy had several shots at goal but all were ably defended until a slip in concentration let Enniscorthy score an equaliser with 5 minutes to go. At full time it was 1-1 so the final result came down to penalty strokes, this was new territory for the lads and after 4 shots each it was 3-2 to CHC, with Conor Walsh, Ryan Wynne, and Oscar Comerford scoring and Jude O Dwyer handling the pressure well with some great saves. Enniscorthy missed their final shot so its a win for Corinthians with no need for Tom Bourke to take his shot.
We think there should be a league "final" but we're waiting on confirmation from Leinster on what happens next.....
