CHC U16's vs TRR Cup semi-final
By Neil Mackay
Three Rock too strong!
Trying to put together a team to play possibly the strongest team in the country at this age group was no mean feat!
We had 2 injuries (Ross Howard & Jake Seaver) and 4 boys out due to holiday commitments. However, our U14 boys stepped up to the plate. A big shout out to Luke Cauldwell, Oscar Comerford, Andrew Browne, Tom Bourke, Micah Switzer and Conor Walsh.
We started the game with with a good tempo and a star turn from Jack Keating playing in an unfamiliar at centre mid we managed to hold Rovers at bay for 15 minutes. Andrew Pollock, another heroic display, was eventually beaten after we had given away possesion too easily. We succumbed to a 2nd goal but we rallied and a fantastic run from Craig Mackay with a pass to Conor Walsh to match allowed Conor to swivle and despatch a delightful reverse stick shot into the corner.
2-1 at halftime. Our midfield of Conall Dullaghan, Matthew Donovan and the prior mentiond Jack Keating had put in a huge effort in the 1st half and this probably told when Three Rock came out all guns blazing. In a 5 minute blitzkrieg we were 5-1 down! However, all the boys dug deep and did not allow the heads to go down. Final score 7-1 but everyone should be as proud of their efforts as I was.
We have 2 more league games and the O'Meara to close out the season It would be great to finish on a high.
Keep an eye out for Pitchero communications.
